Auditions Wed 3rd and Wed 10th June

All at Bramham Village Hall LS23 6QF

The WIZARD OF OOOOS is a musical panto, loosely based on the Wizard of Oz (you might call it a parody).

Dot, her Auntie Histamine and pet cat Tiddles live in a grey, boring town called Amdramham. They are transported to Christmasland when a storm blows their house away, with them inside.

Though Christmasland seems colourful and exciting, it has a problem – Santa has gone missing, meaning Christmas is broken and nothing christmassy works like it should. Our heroes set out to a find a powerful wizard who has a machine that makes wishes come true…will they find Santa to help mend Christmas, and get their own wishes granted into the bargain – or will the wicked Witch Grismarelda stop them? Along the way they befriend a tramp with some very talented pet fleas and an alien robot.

You can read a current draft of the script as a word document here:

Audition info

Auditions will take place on Wed 3rd and Wed 10th June. If we can’t cast it from those we may add more.

Audition panel: Jim Bower, Claire Lister and Sarah Rivers.

If your character has a song you will be expected to sing it!  As you will see from the audition piece pages, we can vary the pitch of the backing tracks so be sure to let us know if you need it adjusting for your range prior to the audition. You don’t need to learn the words off by heart (unless you want to) and can read from a script on the day.

You can audition for more than one role if you like. If you can’t make it, we will accept video auditions.

We envisage probably casting the smaller speaking roles from the people who were unsuccessful when auditioning for lead roles, but if you really fancy being a townsperson or a fireman (or another small speaking role) feel free to audition for those roles – just bring a script and we’ll cover an appropriate scene. There will be some print outs available on the night.

If you just want to be on stage without a speaking part you don’t need to audition – just tick the box!

Your actual audition will be the meeting room at the side of the hall (not in front of everyone). You might be on your own, or we might audition two or more people at once if they are in the same scene (eg Dot and Histamine together, Grismarelda and Igor together)

The evening will probably involve a fair bit of hanging around, so bring something to do and maybe a drink! We will call people in when needed.  You may be called back as it is helpful to see how people interact with eachother, so if you can, stick around after your audition.

Each major character page (below) has a word doc of the audition piece you can download and print out. If you can do this it would be helpful so we don’t have to print a lot of copies. There will be some available on the night. There’s a full script on this page which would be equally helpful for you to print out! If you can read from an ipad or phone that would be great.

Adult Audition Signup (kids will be done separately later)
