The Very Idea

FROM NOW UNTIL DOOMSDAY

THE VERY IDEA was a recording project with Andrew Whitehead (aka Sam Head)  in the late 1990s. We wanted to make something grand and apocalyptic to mark the turn of the millennium. The working title was “From Now Until Doomsday”.

Despite the time and effort, due to circumstances beyond my control, the project never got properly finished, and for years this was a ‘lost’ album. I’m glad to say eventually it was found, although in an unfinished state.  I really wish these grand arrangements had been polished and properly mixed…with some real drums added. Maybe one day.

ANTIGRAVITY

I made this video in 2010, the song was already a decade old, but I briefly had the idea of rebranding myself as “Jim Shatner and The Very Idea.” I think this is my only acid-techno-rock song.

VIBRATING

This was a one-off cover, for use on an American CD release “Glass Flesh,” which was a compilation of Robyn Hitchcock tracks. I’m a big fan of RH, and was thrilled to play a gig with the man himself in 2014.
